DOWNLOADING ESTATE PLANNING
DOCUMENTS FROM THE INTERNET
QUESTION:
What are the pitfalls associated with downloading estate-planning
documents, from the internet, or
purchasing such forms in
stationary stores?
ANSWER:
When “Murphy’s Law” surfaces and something
goes awry, one may have little or no
recourse.
In such
instances, do not be surprised when your internet source (or
stationary store proprietor) reminds you to review the disclaimer
which indicates:
1.
that they do not practice law.
2.
that their product is not designed to
provide any legal advice.
3.
that if you have a problem with numbers 1
or 2, then you
should have engaged an attorney in the
traditional sense.
